Who needs what
US, EU, UK, Canadian, Australian, NZ and most Latin American passport holders do NOT need a visa for Mexico — only the FMM tourist permit, which is free.
FMM online
You can pre-fill the FMM at www.inm.gob.mx within 30 days of travel. The form takes 5 minutes. Print it and bring to the airport.
At the airport
If you didn't pre-fill, you'll get a paper FMM on the plane or at the airport before passport control. Same form.
Common errors
- Wrong passport number — check before submitting
- Forgetting to keep the FMM stub for departure
- Listing 180 days when you only need 30 (it's fine, but draws scrutiny)
