Vaccinations for Mexico Travel

Most travelers to Mexico need fewer vaccinations than they think — but a few are worth getting.

Routine vaccines

Make sure you're up to date on your standard childhood vaccines: measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, polio.

Hepatitis A

Recommended for all travelers. Spread through contaminated food and water. One shot lasts a year, two shots last 20 years.

Typhoid

Recommended for travelers eating outside major hotels and resorts. One injection or oral capsules.

Rabies

Only recommended if you're spending lots of time around animals or in remote areas without medical access.

Yellow fever

NOT required for Mexico. Only required if you're arriving FROM a country with yellow fever transmission.
